THANK YOU for being here. This is my first blog!
The cliche that ‘If you love what you do, you’ll never work a day’ is completely true in my case. I’m a self taught crochet artist and I absolutely love what I do. I could crochet all day! I’m also extremely grateful that I was able to turn what I love doing into a small business.
I am no expert on anything. I’m still learning everyday. I’ve been doing crochet for the last ten years and I’ve made everything from puppets to baskets and jewellery to bags. But it took me a long time to get stream lined and get myself organised into a business. Mainly, I got in my own way.
Here are some things I learnt from my journey that I want to share.
- Fear is natural, but you can’t let it stop you
- Be clear about what you’re doing. Edit and focus.
- Execution is more important than striving for perfection
- Ask for help, you cannot do everything on your own
- Embrace technology and social media
- Be consistent. Have a plan and show up everyday.
And most importantly…
7. Believe you can do it
Right now, I’m really excited about where I am. I feel I’ve climbed mountains of doubt and fear, disorganisation and excuses and have finally gotten to a place where I am looking forward to what’s next. I am also excited to be a part of the community of crafters and craft businesses in India. It’s an exciting time!
Follow me on my journey and share your stories with me. I’d love to hear from you
